Outreach Centre Hamlin Fistula Hospital, Yirgalem, Southern Ethiopia. The walkway leads up to the operation rooms and wards. Every year, the hospital here operates on 400 patients, there are 5 Fistula Hospitals in all Ethiopia. The country has one of the highest rates of Fistula patients with more than 100 000 cases, yearly more than 7000 new cases occur. Dr Catherine Hamlin, the founder, says: "We are only seeing the lucky ones. A lot of them die in their villages without anybody ever knowing about them."
