Tsega Degenu, 20, nurses her 9months old son Fekadu. Her 4-year-old daughter Yabbira looks on in the family's rented hut in Awassa, southern Ethiopia. Tsega suffered internal injuries during the obstructed labour of her first child. The baby was stillborn when she was 16 years of age. Her daughter was born while she was still incontinent as she lived with the fistula for 2 years before she was operated in the Hamlin Fistula Hospital, Addis Abeba. Her third child was delivered by C-Section, arranged by the Fistula Hospital to prevent new injuries.
